It was supposed to be a historic season for the Premier League in the Champions League. Six English clubs made it to the Round of 16, showing just how strong the league has been in Europe this year.
But after the first legs… not a single one of them managed to win.
Here are the results:
-
Real Madrid 3–0 Manchester City
-
Paris Saint-Germain 5–2 Chelsea
-
Bayer Leverkusen 1–1 Arsenal
-
Atlético Madrid 5–2 Tottenham Hotspur
-
Newcastle United 1–1 FC Barcelona
-
Galatasaray 1–0 Liverpool FC
Some of these ties already look extremely difficult for the English sides, especially City and Spurs after heavy defeats.
Still, with second legs coming up, nothing is completely decided yet.
Which Premier League clubs do you think can still reach the quarterfinals?
Personally I think Arsenal and Liverpool still have good chances, but City and Spurs look almost finished. Curious to hear everyone’s predictions.
I wouldn't write off Liverpool yet. Losing 1-0 away to Galatasaray is tough but still very reversible at Anfield. The atmosphere alone could turn that tie around.
Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain, and Arsenal have already qualified.
Liverpool still has a chance, but for Tottenham Hotspur, it’s basically impossible.
