The drama is peaking as we hit the final European playoffs. Here are my thoughts on the four decisive matchups. Let’s discuss!
Bosnia vs Italy
Everyone is talking about how Italy spent weeks scouting Wales, only to end up facing Bosnia. On paper, Bosnia plays a slower, more physical "grind-it-out" style compared to the high-tempo Welsh. Is this actually good for the Azzurri? Personally, I’m not so sure. Italy usually thrives against teams that try to run with them; facing a defensive brick wall like Bosnia might be a nightmare for their creativity. I think they’d have had a much "comfier" time against Wales.
Sweden vs Poland
This is the "Last Dance" moment. If Poland fails to qualify here, we are almost certainly looking at Robert Lewandowski’s international retirement. Sweden is organized and disciplined as always, but can Poland’s supporting cast step up to give their legendary captain one final World Cup appearance? The stakes couldn't be higher.
Czech Republic vs Denmark
Denmark enters as the favorites, but they need to be extremely careful. The Czechs have become the absolute "Kings of Penalties" and defensive resilience lately. If Denmark can’t find a breakthrough within 120 minutes, they are walking straight into a trap. They cannot afford to let this go to a shootout.
Kosovo vs Turkey
Do not sleep on Kosovo! They have some serious individual talent and play with zero fear. Turkey has been looking incredibly "loose" and inconsistent in their recent outings. If the Turkish side shows up with that same complacent attitude we saw in the last round, Kosovo will pull off the upset. Turkey needs to lock in, or they’re staying home.
What are your predictions? Does Lewandowski get his fairy-tale ending, or do the Swedes shut him down?
